This project serves to preserve the banks of the Danube Canal, which are partly the foundations of the flood protection embankment. Where possible, the bank areas are to be rehabilitated in an Soil Bioengineering way.
For this purpose, a survey is to be carried out as a first step. With this basic data, possibilities and best practice examples on other, comparable rivers will be collected in cooperation with BOKU Vienna. Existing measures on the Danube Canal will also be evaluated. Afterwards, pilot projects will be launched on the Danube Canal. Where necessary, the foot of the embankment is to be secured with material from water network projects until such measures are implemented.
