Between 2009 and 2017 two cut-off backwaters were united to form a side arm with coves and pools and reconnected to the flow regime of the Danube. Thus, unilaterally connected side arm systems and small water bodies with reduced flow were established and with that valuable habitats for flora and fauna. The project is already concluded.
The project made a substantial contribution to the implementation of measure 17. Execute restoration measures implementing the EU Water Framework Directive of the Action Programme for the Danube 2022.
