Together for a clean Danube

Help us to keep the Danube clean!

Keeping the Danube clean is very important to us. Together with the Austrian Ministry BMIMI, we are taking targeted action against potential water pollution on the Danube and are counting on your support. If you observe pollution of the Danube, please report this immediately to the nearest navigation authority. This is the only way to find the cause and take immediate action.

Water quality

If you have any requests or questions regarding water quality, please contact the responsible offices of the state authorities. viadonau is not responsible for this topic.

The water quality survey in Austria is carried out in accordance with the Water Condition Monitoring Ordinance (GZÜV), in a division of tasks between the federal and state governments. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management, in cooperation with the offices of the state governments and the Environment Agency Austria, have been running an extensive monitoring program for domestic waters for several decades. The federal states are responsible for the operational processes of sampling, while the Environment Agency Austria carries out data management and analytical evaluations.
