Project content

The project objective of TRIUMPH II was reached in so far as an innovative technical concept was developed for an intelligent multimodal communication hub that digitally links all process participants in the multimodal chain of transport. This was done using new standards for electronic data exchange as well as information gathered from intelligent transport systems.

viadonau focused the research on increasing the competitiveness of Danube navigation in logistics networks, aiming at making information more easily accessible and thereby allowing for better planning reliability of transports. This ambition was realised by methodologically improving the calculation of the estimated time of arrival (ETA) and by implementing a data exchange matrix for multimodal cargo transports on the basis of the information services provided by viadonau. Furthermore, the dialogue with national skippers and providers of information services for other modes of transport was intensified in order to promote inland navigation as a sustainable and, at the same time, innovative transport mode, especially since multimodal transports require standardised communication processes between all transport systems involved.
