Project objectives

Implementation of harmonisation actions in the field of education and training for the inland navigation in the Danube region

Project survey

Network, Harmonisation & Usage of IT in education and training: Strengthening of the existing "Danube-Knowledge-Network" consisting of education and training institutions, authorities and inland waterway companies. It is planned to carry out joint activities like the harmonisation of nautical education and training based on European initiatives, the integration of knowledge on inland navigation into the transport and logistics education sector and the further development and deployment of the e-Learning services and platforms INeS Danube for the Danube navigation.

Concepts & transnational implementation strategies: Feasibility studies and transnational user concepts for state-of-the-art school equipment, like a "Danube training vessel" and simulators for navigation and inland port logistics will be developed newly, in order to balance the gap towards Western European education and training institutions in the mid-term run, this in particular with regard to information technologies.

Jobs & awareness building: HINT will also distribute knowledge regarding the topics inland waterway and related job profiles and possibilities. These actions will take place in the already existing (see: NELI project) or within the newly developed (see: HINT project) Information and Training Centres. Moreover, information about jobs in the field of inland navigation and waterway transport will be distributed within demonstration actions to different target groups on transnational level including the implementation of new media.
