In 2010, the operating regulation for the flood protection facilities along the Morava and the Thaya was elaborated by the Lower Austrian Provincial Government as a model regulation. Based on the findings and experience gained from the previous operation during dry weather and during floods, the operating regulation was evaluated and updated in 2017. The revised operating regulation was put into effect in spring 2018.

The aim of this revision was a simplified administration and a user-oriented digital provision of necessary data. In 2017, the until then 20 analogue address lists for the distribution of the files needed for watch duty along a specific river section in case of a flood (e.g. beginning flood emergency management service) were consolidated into a joint database.

The project makes a substantial contribution to the implementation of measure
20. Optimise flood protection management across organisations and borders of the Action Programme for the Danube 2022.
