The concept of "RIS Corridor Management" aims at improving and linking existing RIS services on a route or a corridor in order to supply RIS not just locally, but on regional, national and international level. It thereby supports route and voyage planning, transport and traffic management, which at present are only sporadically available, if at all. Inland waterway traffic will become safer and inland waterway transports more effective and attractive.

The Austrian project RISCOV formed the national basis for the implementation of a transnational traffic management, including data exchange regarding the electronic reporting of dangerous goods and the possibility of coordinated travel plans along the entire corridor. Thereby, the Project closed the technical gap between the project CoRISMa and the European implementation project RIS COMEX and prepared the Austrian DoRIS system for the operative corridor management.
